Commissioning

To find out more about the commissioning a stained glass window or piece of art, contact us.

Whether your ideas are vague or very clear, the stained glass artist’s job is to help you to realize them and to be able to provide inspiration and suggestions if needed. Any design is workable from figurative to abstract to restoring old windows and a range of techniques are possible, including leading, fusing and painting.  Together, we can put ideas together to form a stained glass design to fit the space where you are intending for it to be placed. The next stage would be a site visit to carefully take into account the practicalities of how the glass might be installed and the lighting, as these factors can effect the final design .  The job can be taken care of from design to installation if you wish.

Bespoke, unique art to specification

See  an example below of how the process worked with one client.

The “Greek Island” leaded stained glass and fused glass window designed for a new extension dining room in a room with a sunny aspect and a view to the garden next door which they wanted to block out.  The theme was  a memory of the clients home. The design was taken from an initial sketch of the client’s idea communicated by email, then a visit to the clients home to take measurements, assess how chosen glass colours would work with the lighting and how the window would be installed, as it was placed over a double glazed unit.

The brief was to capture the essence of a Greek island  with an emphasis on the contrast of deep blues, stark sparkling whites, and dramatic rocks – so glass types, colours and techniques were chosen to represent this   –  streaky glass to represent rocks,  specially textured  fused glass to catch the sunlight on the window in the same way that sunlight would reflect on the roofs of white houses of the Greek island it represents, and a vibrant blue sea.

Restoration

This beautiful Edwardian window was restored after being shattered when a teenager put his foot through it as well as having been painted over with white leaded paint in earlier days when its beauty was not appreciated.

These  beautiful painted windows have had their intricate paintwork restored from broken pieces and made as new.

To be restored the windows are removed, taken apart and re-leaded. The windows are then reinstalled and completed. The whole job is taken care of from start to finish.
Please contact us with any questions about the stained glass restoration process or to discuss your requirements.
